Jag ombads att skriva lite tutorials på trollen på ett annat forum så det blir lite mer detaljerat här ett tag.
Some more WiPs. I'm going to explain my methods a bit more here for anyone interested. I don't presume to be a particularly good sculptor but I've learned a few things over the years.
Arm sculpts. One very important point here is that I didn't do these two arms in one session. If I did, I would certainly have ruined the first arm by putting my finger on it while working on the second. Unless you're much faster than me you'll be working on a single arm like this for 20 minutes minimum. Sooner or later you'll make that mistake.
For arms specifically, I find it helps a lot to look at other arms or your own arms to get the anatomy right.
The first of the headless Trolls. So far I have sculpted the shoulder and worked out the basic shape of the chest. Again, I did this in two sessions. As soon as you're happy with a detail, let it cure. Don't be tempted to do one more thing on that model.
The second headless Troll. I started by filling out the chest cavity and sculpting the belly. Next step will be the upper chest like on the other Troll. Also note that I've filled the shoulder joint to strengthen it as this will make it easier to sculpt the details later.
One more tip: keep your tool wet and work with a light touch. If you want to move something a few mm, push it very gently and repeatedly so the change comes gradually. Don't carve or force. The same applies to smoothing the surface -- repeated light touches with a wet tool. Your finger can be useful too to smooth out joints, just be careful so you don't get fingerprints on the model.
